Warm Tones To Keep Winter Out of Your Kitchen
|
With a timeless beauty, Eden Oak brings warmth and classic style to a kitchen.
Even on the coldest winter's day, the warm hues of knotty oak will be welcoming and homely.
We have chosen Eden Oak as our Winter 2007 feature kithcen because quality and classic style never go out
of fashion and, in a world that is becoming increasingly disposable, the reassuringly solid
oak doors in the Eden range will stand the test of time.
The Eden range has three options: Eden Classic, Eden Oak and Eden Sanded. Before we focus on Eden Oak, we'll
breifly touch on the other two options.
With a distressed paint finish, Eden Classic is the
ultimate in rustic charm. This is a door that has to be seen 'in the flesh' as pictures don't adequately
convey the detail that has been achieved with the distressing of this door's paintwork. In keeping with the
character of the door, the distressing is done by hand to achieve a natural look and feel.
Eden Sanded, as the name implies, is a door with the Eden profile, but without any final finish applied
to the door. The door is supplied in a sanded form for Bespoke finishing of your choice.
The remaining style in the Eden range and our feature kitchen for Winter 2007 is Eden Oak. Eden Oak's solid oak door
has been finished to give a warm tone to which has been added highlighting to render a subtle antique look,
the overall effect of which is quite stunning. The inset timber centre panel is framed with a traditional
bead. Here again, attention to detail has paid dividends and it is obvious to see why this door looks so good.
Enhancing the look still further, we recommend a choice of handle from either the solid pewter or the porcelain
ranges, or if you wish to combine the two materials, the antiqued pewter and grey crackle handles
are superb.
For the workbench, it's hard to beat the understated beauty of a polished black granite (Absolute black,
Jet Black or Black Polished). If you find black a little too harsh, try introducing some green tones
with Ubatuba (an awful name for a granite, but a wonderful stone nonetheless).
Without the glitter of a granite such as Black Galaxy, these granites
demonstrate a more refined taste and enhance the elegance of the kitchen.
An antique pewter style tap and genuine fireclay Belfast sink add the finishing touches to our design. Although not essential,
the Belfast sink does add that little something extra to the kitchen, and from a practical point of view,
the large bowl of a Belfast sink seems positively palatial compared with the typical small
stainless steel bowls common today. If you shudder at the thought of not having a draining board, don't worry,
a draining area can be grooved into the granite surface alongside the sink.
Whilst the 'choose a colour' melamine kitchen has it's place, particularly in the booming market for rental
properties, if it's elegance and finesse that you seek, it's hard to look past Eden Oak with its classic
styling, its warm, neutral tones and hues combined with the dependability and charm of solid timber.
